Polar Latitudes, Antarctica

Polar Latitudes was formed to embrace the best aspects of the early years of expedition cruising when adventure companies formed strong alliances with a select network of international sales agents. They have taken this proven business approach and strengthened it by operating as a wholesale-only company with no direct marketing efforts. The focus is entirely on trust with tour operator partners, and their passengers, as they create and deliver world-class expedition experiences. **Latest news - Hebridean sky has a new sister! In December 2018 sister ship Island Sky will be joining the Polar Latitudes family in Antarctica.

Hebridean Sky (formerly Sea Explorer and Corinthian II) is an all-suite ship accommodating up to 112 guests in 56 cabins, which has always been known for her elegance, service and atmosphere of charm and camaraderie. Polar Latitudes has added increased adventure options and an on-site Passenger Service Representative. Hebridean Sky offers its guests a perfect combination of  on-board luxury and adventurous exploration.

Built in 1992, in Spring 2016 the already very comfortable and spacious ship underwent a $10m refit, transforming her into one of the world’s finest small ships. Each suite features sea view, queen-sized bed, separable into two twin-sized beds, sitting area, satellite TV, DVD/CD player, telephone, mini-refrigerator, marble-appointed bathroom with fine toiletries and an area of 225 square feet (21 m²) or more. The Owner's Suite (35.7 m²), Penthouse Suites (30 m²) and Veranda Suites (24 m²) feature private balconies, accessed via sliding-glass doors.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are changed daily and the emphasis is on providing delicious, as well as balanced and nutritional, cuisine.

Returning from excursions, passengers enjoy complimentary refreshments, afternoon tea and all-day coffee in The Club, a great space for relaxation, surrounded by panoramic windows.

In the coming 2016/17 season Polar Latitudes offers expedition cruises to the Antarctic Peninsula, Falklands and South Georgia, including 2 special trips to commemorate the Shackleton Centenary Season. In the following season 2017/18 Polar Latitudes will offer a trip to the Antarctic Circle.

We ask tour operators to please register directly with Polar Latitudes to receive information, images, availability, and to hold options on departures. On request Polar Latitudes can prepare your own branded PDF version of their brochure.

At the end of last year Gareth had the pleasure of experiencing Polar Latitudes at first-hand, and learned how the best-laid plans can be foiled as much by pesky fur seals as by the unpredictability of the south Atlantic weather!

"The Shackleton themed expedition voyage that I joined in November last year was always going to be a special trip but Polar Latitudes turned it into an unforgettable, and dare I say, joyous experience! Judging from the gushing feedback and feel-good factor among passengers from every corner of the globe on our final evening on Hebridean Sky, I think I can safely say that all of us were bowled over by the consistently excellent work of Brandon Harvey’s highly professional and entertaining expedition team. Apart from the riveting daily lectures by highly qualified experts on subjects as diverse as polar exploration, climate change, the Antarctic Treaty, polar wildlife, geology, glaciation and many more, we had the opportunity most days to play an active role in Polar Latitudes’ pioneering Citizen Science programme, as well as being treated to the steadfast zodiac driving of Polar Latitudes’ CEO John McKeon!

We feasted every day on the delicious choice of meals and fine wine, were impressed and often entertained by the attentive, friendly and helpful crew and staff, and were very grateful for the great work of our very experienced captain and his navigation team in often difficult sea conditions, as well as for the state-of-the-art stabilisers and understated luxury of the excellent Hebridean Sky.

I was unreservedly impressed with Polar Latitudes to the extent that my own high expectations were exceeded. This is not an ostentatious resort style ship, but if you have clients who are interested in an unforgettable small-ship expedition cruise in the Antarctic region, offering all the creature comforts and a true sense of adventure, look no further!"
