Sustainability
- A low-impact low energy house, built using local wood, with passive air design and solar water heating. Now on-grid (with generator back up).
- Recycling, biodegradable toiletries and filtered drinking water comes from a local spring to minimise single-use of plastic.
Need to know:
- Arrival is a thrill as there’s no road access; guests boat in from Paraty (15 mins)
- Once here, guests can walk through the rainforest or kayak to stunning local beaches and laid-back restaurants. Or wave down a local boatman!
- Perfect for adventurous families: the British/Brazilian owners bring their young children every year. Just be aware it’s right above the water’s edge, though the house deck is safely enclosed.
- The remote English-speaking concierge can arrange adventures to colonial Paraty, to secret restaurants and to the spectacular summit of Pau de Acucar (a mini Sugar Loaf).
- Local restaurants available for lunch (only) and there are no local shops. Adriana may be able to arrange for passing fishermen to sell guests just-caught snapper, prawns or mahi-mahi to BBQ for dinner.
- No air conditioning (low energy house), ceiling fans and sea breezes
