“Why I Love...The Origin”, Naomi’s impressions of the ship from her recent trip…

I feel a special fondness for Ecoventura’s yacht MV Origin, we’ve been on a journey together that started long before my recent trip to Galapagos. I worked on her launch in 2016 and have been sending delighted journalists on press trips aboard her ever since. So it was a real treat finally coming face-to-face with her last October. I could pick out her distinctive bow from the shore and she did not disappoint once aboard. From the friendliness and efficient service off the staff, to the graceful décor, spacious cabins and shared spaces to the excellence of the guides and excursions – everything was tip-top. It’s a high-class ship but with a relaxed and informal atmosphere, which is just as well when you have to squeeze in and out of wetsuits in the company of strangers!! Truly outstanding aspects of the ship include: the picture sized windows throughout, allowing views in all directions and a vast amount of light inside the yacht, the gourmet food, which was plentiful and delicious, and all the well-thought-out little details including slimline life jackets, high quality and design wetsuits, also the systems for getting on and off the pangas with snorkelling kit in individual bags. The diversity of the wildlife and landscapes in Galapagos is so outstanding it is almost overwhelming, but my favourite excursions included spotting waved albatross performing their mating dance and snorkelling at the Crown Of Thorns volcanic islets. I knew we were on to a good thing when I saw the Captain and the Head Chef putting their wetsuits on. Where the Captain leads…..make sure you follow!
