Anakonda Amazon Cruises

Small, perfectly formed Ecuador contains just 2% of the entire Amazon; yet here are some of the most diverse and pristine areas on Earth, including Yasuní National Park designated by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve. Yasuni alone contains over 200 species of butterflies, 596 species of birds, 150 species of amphibians, 121 species of reptiles, 200 species of mammals; and fascinating ethnic groups with unique ways of life such as the Secoya and Cofan.

With a draft of only 1 metre sister river boats the Anakonda and Manatee take guests to where few may tread. On an 8 day itinerary guests can visit 4 protected areas – Yasuni, Cuyabeno Reserve, Limoncocha and Pañacocha Biological Corridor – and as the operation involves 15 communities of the Napo, guests connect with the human inhabitants as well as the wildlife, visiting members of the Kichwa, Secoya and Cofan cultures.

And all the while in great comfort and style with small groups, expert naturalist guides, and delicious food.

Sustainability

Need to know:

Ecuador’s narrow, shallow, upper Amazon is very different to the huge downstream river systems of neighbouring countries.

  • Reach pristine, biodiverse rainforest faster
  • Spot wildlife directly from the vessel as well as exploring still smaller channels on motorised canoes
  • Requiring only at least 1 metre of water the vessels ensure that it’s navigable all year.
  • Expert birding guides and tailored itineraries and timings are available for ornithologist groups
  • Anakonda additionally has a concierge and a la carte dining menus

Perfect for:

Nature, wilderness and wildlife lovers whilst also enjoying very high levels of comfort

Road

By Road

Alternatively Coca is reached via a well paved 6 hour car journey from Quito

Boat

From Coca its a 1 1/2 hour journey down river to the ship

Aeroplane

By Air

Weather

The climate in the Ecuadorian Amazon never undergoes drastic changes, throughout the year temperatures ranging from 26°C to 35°C. Because of Ecuador’s location at the equator, the sun rises and sets at the same time every day and the Ecuadorian rainforest has only two main seasons: the cooler season (June-September) and the warmer season (October-May). Whatever the season, be prepared for sudden showers.
