Finca Rosa Blanca

A delightful network of winding paths lined with tropical trees and bushes leads guests to a collection of small buildings with white washed walls and terracotta roofs, and within each house Finca Rosa Blanca’s eclectic range of 14 spacious, artistic, colourful rooms. This pioneering sustainable property is a world away from the hot bustling city centre of San Jose, but still only 30 minutes from the airport, nestled up in the hills of Heredia with beautiful views. The fertile volcanic soil allows for abundant coffee crops which thrive in the tree-shaded 30 acre plantation on the hillside along with more than 140 species of birds. All the beans are organic and each guest is taken on a tour of the grounds, with detailed descriptions of the growing, harvesting and roasting processes and with a tasting session at the end of the tour. Beautiful gardens and pool are complemented by El Tigre Vestido restaurant which serves sensational Farm-to-Table, seasonal Costa Rican cuisine under the watchful eye of the innovative chef. Each and every guest is welcomed at the finca with the warmest hospitality – making it a perfect stop for one or better two or longer nights on any Costa Rica itinerary.

Senderos Soul

Finca Rosa Blanca opened my eyes...wide. A personal awakening to see the beauty and urgency of producing food with nature and allowing biodiversity to thrive alongside, not instead of or in spite of it. With passionate local naturalist guide and coffee obsessive Ulises, we learnt about the coffee plants, their nurture and path to our cup. Gazing, captivated up at the trees that towered above us, at the birds, animals and insects that called that tree home...there was a sense of balance.

- Simon, Senderos
